Over time, fat deposits around the eyes, excess skin, or both can cause noticeable drooping of lids, sagging of eyebrows, and pronounced dark circles. In some cases, it is severe enough to partially obscure a person’s vision.

Blepharoplasty is a surgical technique for eyelid revision. During the procedure, excess skin and other tissue is removed, and displaced tissue is restored to its optimal location. Using precise techniques and tiny incisions, Dr. Ostad achieves natural and youthful looking results without noticeable scarring.

Benefits of Blepharoplasty

Patients are delighted with treatment outcomes for many reasons.

  • There is minimal downtime and minimal discomfort during healing
  • Eliminate loose or sagging skin that is interfering with your vision
  • Smooth wrinkled or “crepe paper” textured skin on the lower lids
  • Rejuvenate puffy, tired looking eyes
  • Remove excess skin that obscures the natural fold in the upper eyelid
  • Enjoy a more youthful appearance and unimpaired vision

About the Procedure

Blepharoplasty is a reliable technique for rejuvenating the upper or lower eyelids. It is an outpatient surgery, performed here in our New York office, which is an AAAASF (American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities) certified surgical facility.

Dr. Ostad uses local anesthesia, which is safer than general anesthesia and allows a speedier recovery. Depending on the situation, the surgery may take from one to two hours. Downtime is minimal. Most people return to work within a few days, though we advise patients to allow up to one week for healing. You will see improvement as soon as sutures are removed. Full results will be visible within a few weeks as the last of the swelling subsides. If you are unhappy with drooping or wrinkled eyelids, call us at (212) 517-7900 and arrange a consultation with Dr. Ostad to find out if blepharoplasty is right for you.
