Radiesse is an injectable/filler used to help reduce facial wrinkles and folds in the skin. Unlike some of the other popular fillers, Radiesse simulates the body’s natural ability to produce collagen so that your skin improves over time.
What is collagen, and how can it help you to look better?
Collagen is the name of a group of proteins found exclusively in humans and mammals. It is the most abundant protein in our body, comprising up to thirty five percent of the whole body’s protein count. Collagen is mostly found in fibrous tissues such as tendon, ligament, and the skin. It is also present in the cornea, bone, cartilage, and blood vessels. Collagen is known for its ability to add flexibility, strength, and vitality to the skin. As people age, natural collagen breaks down, diminishing facial volume and elasticity. With the loss of elasticity, wrinkles and facial lines form.
How Radiesse works
In order to reduce fine lines and wrinkles caused by the breakdown of naturally occurring collagen, Dr. Ostad replenishes the skin’s volume with Radiesse in his NYC office. Upon injection, Radiesse provides nearly immediate volume and the lift needed to diminish the signs of aging due to the calcium-based microspheres and gels that are contained in this product. Further, Radiesse acts as a barrier under the skin to protect it and to also provide structure, allowing for one’s natural collagen to continue accumulating over time. The process continues for several months and is clinically proven to provide excellent results for up to a year or more in most patients.
Treatment with Radiesse is quick and convenient, and typically patients are significantly more satisfied with the product in comparison with other leading wrinkle fillers. As an FDA-approved enhancement filler, Radiesse actively works to improve the appearance of smile lines, marionette lines, the corners of the mouth, pre-jowl, and chin wrinkles. Radiesse is used by Dr. Ostad to treat a wide range of patients based on their individual needs. One syringe is usually required to provide full treatment.
