What should I expect in a hand rejuvenation procedure?

Along with adding volume, we can also utilize laser treatments to further improve the appearance of your hands. We use either Fraxel or Picoway for brown spots, and Fraxel for texture. The lasers work by resurfacing the skin and decreasing brown spots. If you decide to use a Fraxel laser treatment for hand rejuvenation, a numbing agent will be used. With Picoway, you will feel a light warming sensation where the beam of light touches your skin.

Restylane Lyft hand rejuvenation

Restylane Lyft’s active ingredient is hyrulonic acid, a naturally-occurring substance in our bodies which has the ability to minimize hollowness of the hands. The newest addition to the Restylane family, Lyft is the first hyaluronic acid filler to receive FDA approval for hand rejuvenation. In a quick, 15-minute procedure, you can have youthful hands again. After a topical numbing cream is applied, Dr. Ostad will precisely inject Restylane Lyft into different areas of each hand to create a rejuvenated appearance. Restylane is a non-invasive procedure that requires no downtime, and will not inhibit use or dexterity of your hands. Minor swelling and/or minimal bruising at the injection sites may occur.

Fat transfer hand rejuvenation

Fat transfer injections have been used in the past for facial rejuvenation. Now, this treatment is available for hand rejuvenation as well. In a fat grafting procedure, fat is harvested from an area with excess fat, often taken from the thighs. The fat is then transferred and injected into an area lacking volume such as the face or hands. This safe and easily tolerated transfer produces results that appear natural and youthful. By using the patient’s own fat rather than a synthetic filler, there is little chance of a negative reaction. The results are longer-lasting than when performed with dermal filler.

The procedure is performed under anesthesia and involves three steps—harvesting, purifying, and injecting the fat. What is the recovery like after hand rejuvenation?

You should be able to return to your normal activities within a few days of Restylane Lyft hand rejuvenation. You may experience some bruising and swelling. Avoid strenuous activities that stimulate blood flow for approximately 48 hours after the procedure. You can use makeup to cover the bruising until it subsides.

Recovery after fat transfer

The recovery period after fat transfer hand rejuvenation is brief. The hands may appear swollen, overfilled, or reddish during the first few weeks, but this will subside as the area heals. You can expect very little discomfort, minimal downtime, and, generally, no loss of functionality in the hands. As the hands are not immediately noticed by others, you may easily resume normal social activities.
